• The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is a set of guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (EC) to regulate the conduct of political parties and candidates during elections.
• It comes into effect immediately after the announcement of the election schedule and remains in effect till the declaration of results.
• The MCC is designed to ensure free and fair elections by maintaining a level playing field for all contestants and preventing abuse of official machinery for electoral gain.
• Political parties and candidates are expected to refrain from making personal attacks, using foul language or engaging in activities that exacerbate existing differences or create mutual hatred between communities. Appealing to caste or communal sentiments to secure votes is strictly prohibited.
• Parties and candidates must comply with local laws and obtain necessary permits for holding public meetings and processions.

• The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced the launch of a pilot project to provide cashless treatment to road accident victims.
• The programme, which will be implemented initially in Chandigarh, is designed to ensure that accident victims receive prompt medical care, especially during the critical 'golden hour' after an incident.
• Under the scheme, all road accident victims in Union Territories will get Rs. 1.5 lakh per person for a maximum period of seven days from the date of accident. The program will cover any category of motor vehicle accidents on the road.

• On March 13, 2024, the United States House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill that could ban the country's popular social media platform TikTok.
• The bill, which received strong bipartisan support with a vote of 352 to 65, now heads to the Senate, where its fate is uncertain.
• President Joe Biden has pledged to sign the bill if it reaches his desk.
• The law comes amid growing concerns that TikTok's Chinese owner, ByteDance, could fall under the watchful eye of the Chinese government.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi literally laid the foundation stone for three semiconductor projects worth around Rs 1.25 trillion.
• These projects are set to transform India into a global semiconductor hub, spur economic growth and boost innovation in the country.

• Currently, the excitement of Pakistan Super League 2023 is going on in Pakistan. The playoff match of this tournament was played in Peshawar Zalmi against Islamabad United. In this match, Pakistan captain Babar Azam is making one record after another in his career. On Friday, he set another record with a brilliant batting performance. He has become the fastest batsman to score 9000 runs in the history of T20 cricket.

• In this playoff match, Peshawar Zalmi scored 183 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Along with Babar's 64, Mohammad Haris contributed 34 runs, Sam Ayyub 23, Hasibullah Khan 15, Tom Cadmore 16 and Azmatullah 10. United captain Shadab Khan took 2 wickets giving 40 runs in 4 overs.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name is not being considered for the Nobel Peace Prize, explained Nobel committee vice-chairman Ashley Toe on Thursday. He is on a tour of India. Speaking to a news agency, Toye praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stance on the Ukraine-Russia war as 'this era is not about war'.
• Modi's statement shows hope, India has sent a signal message on how not to settle global disputes. He also said that a large part of the world's population is behind Modi.
• Distorting Toe's statements, some news channels reported that Narendra Modi is a strong contender for the Nobel Peace Prize. Finally, Toe refuted it and clarified that these are all rumours.
• He refuted the rumors saying that I did not say that or anything like that. He appealed not to discuss these rumors and not to give too much importance to them. He clarified that I am not here as the deputy leader of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, I am here as the director of the International Peace Organization and a friend of India.

• The State Transport Corporation (ST) has been in a financial crisis for the past several years. During Corona, layoffs and strikes, the economic condition of STs deteriorated further. Many efforts are being made to bring ST out of this pit and these efforts have not been fully successful yet. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis seems to have put a new coat on the old slogans without doing much new to improve the financial calculations of the ST Corporation in the budget year 2023-24. However, ST is currently in the news due to an announcement. The announcement of 50 percent discount in ST ticket price for women will be beneficial for women. But, it will be interesting to see if this announcement will be a revival for ST.
• What is the current status of ST – ST, which was halted last year due to the strike of the employees, started running again. 'Village there ST' appeared as the staff attended duty. At present, 13 thousand 595 trains of ST are running in the state and there are 60 to 65 lakh trips per day. At present, 50 to 55 lakh passengers are traveling through ST every day. From this, the Corporation gets an income of Rs 22 to 24 crores per day (including reimbursement amount). The corporation incurs an average expenditure of Rs.850 crore per month and earns an income of Rs.720 crore (including reimbursement) per month.
• What is the solution to pull ST out of the financial trap – The State Transport Corporation did not get anything special in this year's budget. Earlier plans for station renovation, electric buses and conversion of old trains have been re-announced. It has been announced that works worth Rs 400 crore will be taken up for the reconstruction of 100 ST bus stations in the state. Similarly, 5,150 electric buses will be purchased. 5 thousand buses running on diesel will be converted to LNG fuel. It was announced that women in the state will be given a 50 percent discount on ticket fares while traveling by ST. Therefore, when will this announcement be implemented, all the women's section is paying attention.
• Currently, how many people are getting discount on ticket price – There are about 29 types of concession schemes for thousands of passengers traveling in ST Corporation buses in the state. From this discount, a discount of 33 percent to 100 percent is given on the passenger ticket price. The State Government is responsible for these concessions announced by the State Government. Hence 67% to 100% of the ticket fare is borne by the state government. From August 2022, ST travel is free for senior citizens above 75 years of age. So far 6 crore senior passengers have traveled. At present, more than 5 lakh senior citizens are traveling free on ST buses on an average every day. Due to this, the ST Corporation receives a reimbursement amount of Rs 65 to 75 crore per month from the state government. Reimbursement amount for all concessions is about Rs 220 crore per month and this amount is given to ST Corporation by the State Government.

• Apple supplier Foxconn has received an order to manufacture AirPods. Foxconn is the world's largest electronics contractor, making 70% of iPhones. Now the company has won the contract for AirPods for the first time. AirPods are usually made by Chinese manufacturers. Foxconn to set up a plant in Telangana to manufacture AirPods.
• Foxconn is going to invest $200 million i.e. about Rs 1,655 crore in India on this occasion. Companies like Wistron Corp and Pegatron Corp along with Foxconn are also manufacturing Apple products in India. Production at Foxconn's new plant could begin by the end of 2024. For this, the company is planning to set up a factory in India to manufacture earphones in India. Two people related to it have given this information to the Reuters news agency.
• Foxconn executives had debated internally whether to assemble the AirPods because of the relatively low profit margins involved in making the device, said the person, who asked not to be named because the project has not yet been made public. But the option to go ahead with the deal was chosen to make good on the ending.
• Earlier this month, according to some reports, Foxconn Group is going to invest $700 million 5,740 crore in India. This investment is to shift manufacturing from China to India. Apple's iPhone and other products are currently manufactured in Washington and Beijing. But Foxconn is preparing to bring this entire product to India.
